    As a Program Director while at Martin Marietta, he led the team that designed, built, tested and launched the successful Magellan Spacecraft. Magellan was the first planetary spacecraft to fly on Shuttle, the first planetary launch by the United States in ten years, the first spacecraft to use aerobraking and provided the first global, high resolution map of the surface of Venus.
    Propulsion system development: Mr. Brown was responsible for the design and integration of the Viking Orbiter propulsion system. He was the originator and developer of the Autogenously pressurization system used on the Titan II ICBM and the Titan family of launch vehicles.
    Educator: He taught the Elements of Spacecraft Design home study course for AIAA from the spring of 1995 to the present. He taught the Elements of Spacecraft Propulsion and Elements Of Orbital Mechanics home study course from 1997 to the present. He has taught ASEN 5148, a graduate/upperclassman course in spacecraft design at the University of Colorado since 1981.
    Author: He has written two college level textbooks for AIAA; Spacecraft Mission Design and Spacecraft Propulsion published in 1996. A third textbook, Elements of Spacecraft Design is scheduled for publication in the summer of 2002. __
