    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    Mr. Steven D. Claypool

Dave Claypool was one of the original RC97 boom operators and flight engineers of the 98th air refueling squadron USAF.
He later became BO and FE instructor for the 98th while in Lincoln Nebraska and later Goose Bay AB, 1954. They trained and perfected air refueling at a forward base under severe weather conditions. The Goose Bay crew consistently flew and survived multiple power and hydraulic failures compounded by 90 degree cross winds and heavy flowing snow on ice packed runways in order to get to the low fuel bombers.
In civilian flying he actively remained an instrument rated pilot and owned many aircraft for over 30 years.

Wall of Honor profiles are provided by the honoree or the donor who added their name to the Wall of Honor. The Museum cannot validate all facts contained in the profiles.
