On 16 July 1969
A launch was made for all mankind for on that day began a feat
Of three men the moon to meet as toward the moon their spacecraft flew
The world around all people knew
That on the moon two men would roam
And at journey's end come safely home

On 20 July 1969
Down on the moon man did climb
The men whose footsteps showed the way
Were Armstrong and Aldrin of the USA
Once this journey was complete
Man knew the universe lay at his feet
For though heaven and earth God did create
It is left to man to direct its fate
