    Honored by:

He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1958 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree. He joined NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in 1960 where he worked on the nation’s first weather satellite programs, TIROS and Nimbus in various positions including communications engineer, spacecraft manager, and later Deputy Project Manager. In 1978 he became Project Manager for the two spacecraft Dynamics Explorer Project which were successfully launched in 1980. In recognition for bringing this project in on schedule, under budget, and meeting all of the scientific objectives he was awarded NASA's Outstanding Leadership Medal.
After retiring from NASA in 1988 he joined the Perkin-Elmer Corporation as their Director of Flight Programs working on star trackers and the initial phases of the AXAF (The Chandra x-ray telescope) grazing incidence mirrors. Shortly after Hughes Aircraft bought Perkin-Elmer, and the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) primary mirror flaw was discovered he was assigned as the Program Manager of HST to assist NASA in the recovery program. During the next ten years four HST Servicing Missions were conducted including the optical repair of the primary, upgrade of scientific instruments, replacement of electronic components and improving the Fine Guidance Sensors.
