    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

Flight to Mercy. Yuen was an ardent airplane admirer in his boyhood. He watched the sky intently and eagerly as heard the hum. Often, the pilot threw out leaflets to people far down below. Meanwhile at Kauluwela School, he made and flew kites during recess from 1921-1924. In 1929, came the famed race in which aviator Al Hegenberger won winging from CA to Honolulu, and Mildred Doran lost her life at sea.
In the 1930s, Yuen often wore a khaki flying shirt even to work & imagined he was actor-flyer Al Wilson. Today it's a 'copter pilot flying after cruel animal hunters with tear gas even at sea.
