Ira Grant Hedrick, Jr. (bom 2-10-13 in Kansas City, Mo.), educated as a structural engineer (BS at U of Arkansas, MS at Princeton U.) started his aerospace experience with Grumman Aircraft Corp. in 1943 as a stress analyst. In 1963 he was made Vice President of Engineering and participated actively, as a VP or Consultant, in the design and testing of all Grumman aerospace projects, (one being the Lunar Landing Module), until Grumman merged with Northrop in 1994. Honors received:
1967 - ASME Spirit of St.Louis Award
1971 - AIAA Sylvanus Alvert Reed Award
1973 - SAMPE Award for Distinguished Service to the Composite Industry.
1974- Received NASA's Distinguished Public Service Medal
1984 - Received U.S. Sir Force Exceptional Civilian Service Award
1989 - Elected Honorary Fellow of the AIAA.
