    Pilot, Flight Instructor, Aircraft Mechanic, Air Traffic Controller.

    First solo on August 17, 1969 at IAG after 5 hours if instruction. Earned CFI on April 9, 1971. Joined FAA on January 28, 1974 as an Air Traffic Controller Specialist at New York ARTCC. Transferred to Washington ARTCC in 1986 as Air Traffic Automation Specialist. Directed FAA Y2K testing of ATC systems in 1998-99. Manager of En Route Automation Systems in 2001. Continued to teach flying and maintaining aircraft with more than 3,500 hours of flight time.

    Jim’s aviation career is dedicated to aviation safety, on the ground, as well as in the air.
