Jesse Koenig was born April 23rd, 1977 to George and Stephanie Koenig in Silver Spring, MD. Jesse grew up in Silver Spring and attended high school at Sandy Spring Friends School in Sandy Spring, MD. He went to Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT, where he majored in Physics and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in May, 1999.
After college, Jesse worked on satellite attitude control systems for Lockheed Martin at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD, and for Boeing Satellite Systems in El Segundo, CA. He proceeded to Stanford University where he earned a Master of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics in April, 2004, and also did research at Stanford Center for International Security and Cooperation, modeling asteroid interception missions. Jesse went on to join SpaceDev in Poway, CA.
Jesse’s interests revolve around the advancement of human space flight and space exploration.
