    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

I am 77 years of age and I am in reasonably good health. I served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. I was a Pilot Cadet and went thru College Training Detachment, On the Line Mechanic Training, Preflight School and served for 16 months on the line as a Mechanic working on AT-6's & BT-13's waiting to go to Pilot School. After VE Day I was classified "Air Crew Surplus". So much for Pilot School. I was on standby for B-29 Flight Engineer School when the ENOLA-GAY dropped the Atomic Bomb and the war was over.

I was offered a career opportunity to re-enlist for Pilot Training and another service hitch in the Army Air Corp. I chose not to re-enlist....after (22) months of hurry up and wait on (9) different Air Corp Bases I was ready for civilian life ASAP."

When I attended CSU in 1946 I received flight training from a woman instructor and in 1969 I bought Into a Piper Super Cruiser and flew it until I had a crackup....I haven't flown since.
