    Mr Wood was born on December 26, 1911. His career in the aviation industry began in 1929 when he joined Consolidated Aircraft in Buffalo, NY where he worked on production and tooling. He took a three-year night school course and continued to work mostly on tooling.

    He worked at Curtiss-Wright Corporation on tooling for the P-37 and P-40. He then went to Bell Aircraft in Buffalo in the production engineering department.

    During World War II (WWII), he was sent to different companies by Bell to initiate aircraft production methods and aircraft quality control. He maintains a lifelong interest in all aspects of aviation, having built two helicopters and owned two planes.
