    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

Since I was a boy in grade school, I have always been interested in airplanes and flight. In the early 1940s, my dad belonged to a flying club in my hometown of Laurenceburg, Indiana. He obtained his student license. The flight instructor for the club would take me up in the old two-seater Aeronca. What a thrill it was.

My father and I built model airplanes and attended contests. I still have the old “Zipper” free flight we flew from corn fields near home. Also, we had gliders and U-control models. I still enjoy making model airplanes and collecting toy airplanes.

I visit air shows and airports as time allows after retiring from the US Forest Service in 1990 with 34 years of service.
