Marvin L (Roy) Martin is a Test Pilot with over 50 years of flying experience. Colonel Roy Martin retired from the United States Air Force after a 30-year career. He flew more than 200 combat missions during the Vietnam War in the F-4. In 1976, he graduated from the United States Air Force Test Pilot School as a distinguished graduate and continued flight-testing at Edwards Air Force Base for 6 years. During this period, he helped test the E-3A Airborne Warning and Control aircraft, conducted F-5 high angle of attack tests, Air Launch Cruise Missile Developments tests, space shuttle simulator tests, and was test pilot on classified projects. In addition, he was an Instructor at the USAF Test Pilot School both on active duty and as a Reservist. Over 20 TPS classes received academic and flight training from Colonel Martin. In 1982, Roy joined Northrop Grumman as an Engineering Test Pilot. He has conducted flight testing in the F-5, F-20, QF-86, Sabreliner, Gulfstream GII, Beech Baron, experimental Cessna 206, Cessna 02, Long Eze, DA-40, and Firebird aircraft and was the backup test pilot for the YF-23. Roy was UAV operator for X-47A UAV flight tests. He retired from Northrop Grumman as Chief Test Pilot in 2014. Roy has amassed more than 10,800 flight hours in over 70 aircraft types in his 50 years of flying. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Parks College of St. Louis University and a Master of Science in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University. Roy is a member of the Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association, and Fellow and past President of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.
