    Mr. James V. Boone

Virgil B. Boone (1902 - 1988) grew up with the development of radio in the USA. In the mid-1930s he established a radio business in Hot Springs, AR that included service to private aviation.

He joined the Civil Air Patrol and when his squadron was called to duty in World War II he sold his business and moved to Grand Isle, LA where the unit flew their private aircraft on anti-submarine patrols over the Gulf of Mexico from a short piece of the shell-covered local road. Mr. Boone was responsible for all of the communications equipment of the squadron.

He later joined Sperry Gyroscope Co. and became an expert in training, installation, and service for military products including gun sights, bombsights, and gyrocompass equipment. After the war he was responsible for all service in the southern district on equipment such as the zero-reader, autopilots, and engine analyzers. After he retired from Sperry he lived in Maryland and southern California. He is buried in Fallbrook, CA beside his wife of 63 years, the former Dorothy Dorough.
