    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

My interest in flying started around 4 or 5 years of age, after seeing an “Air Circus” at a local farmer’s field, near my home in Scotland.
In mid-1939, when war with Germany seemed imminent, I attempted to enlist in the British Royal Air Force for pilot training. However, because I was only 15 years of age, I was not accepted. In 1942, at age 18, I again volunteered for the Royal Air Force. After successfully completing 3 days of test, including a full physical, I was accepted for pilot training on July 26, 1942.
On February 11, 1947, I was honorably discharged from the Royal Air Force and resumed my civilian life. The last plane I flew was the 4-engine British Lancaster Bomber.

Wall of Honor profiles are provided by the honoree or the donor who added their name to the Wall of Honor. The Museum cannot validate all facts contained in the profiles.
