Anne's interest in aviation started early in life as her father was an avid builder and flyer of model aircraft. It was not unusual to find the two of them at a nearby airport watching planes come and go.

As she was completing her nurse's training in Jacksonville, Florida in 1958, she met and ultimately married a Naval officer who was undergoing training to be a Naval Aviation Controller (later called a Naval Flight Officer - NFO) and a member of the airborne Combat Information Center in the RC-121 (Super Constellation). Their first duty station together in 1959 was with an Airborne Early Warning Squadron based at the Naval Air Station (NAS) Agana, Guam and deployed throughout the Western Pacific. Anne became an avid observer of the Navy aircraft at the base and a member of the squadron wives club. Following the Guam tour they were stationed at NAS Pensacola Florida where Bob was an NFO instructor, followed by tours on three aircraft carriers, Air Wing staff, Carrier Battle Group staff, a Fleet Intelligence Center and ultimately with the Secretary of Defense staff. In all these tours, aviation was the primary focus of attention and activity for both Bob and Anne. After 29 years of Naval Service Bob retired and entered 26 years of defense contractor service to the military aviation community with a focus on intelligence.

In 2003 Bob and Anne were eager to become a part of the National Air and Space Museum and were "plank owners" of the Visitor Services (VS) team at the Udvar-Hazy Center, beginning with participation in the opening events on 15 December 2003. Anne has been a weekly VS team member since opening day - "infecting" visitors with her love and knowledge of aviation.
