One of three children of Joel & Bertha Piche, June was born in the Copper Country of Michigan on June 13, 1923. She is a graduate of Lake Linden-Hubbe11 High School and has BA & MA degrees from Michigan State University. A retired school librarian, she is a published author and poet and a researcher of family history.
During WWII, while enrolled at the University of Michigan, she lost both her husband and only brother in military service in France. She remarried in 1947 and has three children and four grandchildren.
