    Mrs Ross was born in Portland, OR and resided in San Diego, CA since 1951. She learned to fly in 1926, sold airplanes, flew in air shows, did charter flight work, was a flight instructor in the USA and Australia, and ferried planes in England for the Royal Air Force (RAF) during World War II.

    She managed Sky Haven Airport in Las Vegas until moving to Australia in 1945. Upon returning from Australia in 1950, she went to work as purchasing agent for the Veterans Administration until her retirement in 1974.

    She is a member of the Royal Air Force Ferry Command Association, OX-5 Pioneer Aviators, Silver Wings, Aviation Breakfast Club, and Flying Samaritans which she helped found in 1961. She helped Amelia Earhart organize the Northwest Chapter of the Women's pilot group called the 99s. She also belonged to the ATA (Air Transport Auxiliary division of the RAF).
