Master Sergeant George A. Griego, US Marine Corps (Retired) enlisted as a private on 1 July 1957 at Denver, Colorado. He participated in combat actions during the Dominican Republic crisis and in Vietnam. He is authorized to wear the Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three stars, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. During 22 years of active service in the Marine Corps he performed such duties as instructor, Naval Air Technical Training Center, Memphis, Tennessee, and drill instructor, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.
