Joined the USAF in August, 1950 and served for three years and seven months (early out). This included a 20 month tour at Whellus Air Base, Tripoli, Libya. Joined the PaAng July 1954 and served with distinction as a military guard member and also a full time Air Technician till December 1988 at which time he retired from the Air Tech. position as Engine Shop Foreman. He continued as a Guard member till age 60, October 1990. Total service for pay, 39 years, 11 months and 7 days.
MSgt Salem holds many medals, badges, commendations, citations and campaign ribbons awarded during this period of time. This also includes many deployments to foreign lands in times of national emergency.
