During World War II (WWII) many women went into the plants to assist the war effort as the men were being shipped overseas. Born in Hamden, CT on December 12, 1912, Mrs. Myrtle Beecher Bossoli contributed to the war effort by working at a Pratt and Whitney factory in Connecticut that was responsible for the production of the R-1830 twin wasp engine. This engine was used in several aircraft of the time including the B-24 Liberator.

She began at the plant on the assembly line but was then moved into Quality Control. From there, her position evolved to where her responsibilities included the documentation and writing of he reject reports for the management on why the pistons were not passing the quality inspections.

Also during WWII, Mrs. Bossoli worked in a small company in Plainville, CT that produced explosive fuses for bombs.

A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Bossoli passed away in 1999 and is survived by her husband, Mr. William Bossoli.
