Nicholas John Monaco is not a pilot. He's never served in the military or even worked in the aviation field. But his enthusiasm, knowledge, and patronage of everything related to flight makes him worthy of aviation honors. Nick is an avid student of the history and future of flight. He supports aviation organizations and their mission to preserve historic aircraft. He patronizes flight museums across the country, and attends air shows whenever possible. His collection of aviation art includes prints of the Enola Gay and Bock's Car signed by the aviators on those missions, Jimmy Doolittle's Raid signed by Doolittle himself, and numerous other prints of historical and experimental aircraft. And nothing can equal the pure joy Nick felt when he had the opportunity to actually handle the stick and get some air time in a restored T6 Texas Trainer and a B-24 Bomber. If only he could fly in an F-16.... Nick exemplifies the American spirit that nurtured the aviation age full of wonder, discovery, industry and delight in the concept of soaring above the clouds.
