    Captain Orrel T. Hansen distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-130E Aircraft Commander at Kam Due Airfield, Republic of Vietnam, on 20 August 1970, On that date, Captain Hansen and Ms crew were selected to fly a combat essential mission to this remote airfield bringing critically needed reinforcements and supplies. Despite marginal weather conditions, heavy friendly artillery, hazardous terrain and suspected hostile forces in the immediate area, Captain Hansen, displaying complete control of the situation calmly made his approach and assault landing and delivered the urgently needed cargo. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Hansen reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force,
