    Owen Glenn Cooper, born March 20, 1923 in Baltimore, Maryland, enlisted in the Aviation Cadet Program in August 1942. While waiting to be called he worked on Liberty Ships at Maryland Drydock Company. He was called up March 2, 1943 and trained at Victorville, California graduating as a Navigator / Bombardier in 1944. He was assigned to the 8th Air Force, 91st Bomb Group flying B-17s and was stationed at Bassingbourne, England. Mr. Cooper flew thirty combat missions over Germany and was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
    Following discharge in September 1945, Mr. Cooper took a position at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith as a trainee and progressed to Senior Financial Consultant & Assistant Vice President. He retired after thirty-five years with the firm.
    As a hobby, Mr. Cooper took up pleasure flying and earned his instrument and commercial pilots' licenses. He volunteered at the Hickey School, Northern Virginia Mental Health Center, Wyman Park Medical Center and Big Brothers. He has been active in the Distinguished Flying Cross Society, the 91st Bomb Group and in researching information for others on missions flown and locating former crew members through the use of the facilities at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.
    He resides in Baltimore with his wife, Nancy M. Cooper, and has two sons, David K. and Owen D. Cooper, and one granddaughter, Megan.
