    Captain Corrigan was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for an unescorted special reconnaissance mission over hostile territory.
    He flew the early jets, Panther (F9F-2P) and Banshee (F2H-2P) in combat off the old straight deck carriers, USS Philippine Sea and USS Essex during the Korean War.
    During his thirty years in carrier aviation, he held such prestigious positions as Operations Officer for the Two Carrier Task Force Sixty; Air Operations for U.S. Naval Forces Europe in London, and Commanding Officer, U.S. Naval Station Rota, Spain / Commander Naval Activities, Spain.
