    First airplane ride 1927 in Travelair. Graduated from MIT 1943.Worked for
    Chance Vought 1943-1946 as power plant and preliminary design engineer. Glenn L. Martin, Baltimore 1946-1951 as controls design engineer. Designed pilot's control pedestal for P4M. Conducted research studies of new power control systems. At Hayes International, Birmingham, 1951-1967, Chief of Mechanical Design, Later project engineer and program manager. Responsible for in-flight refueling system of KB50. Became Director of Space Vehicle 'Engineering. responsible for design of shroud and fins for Saturn I. At Martin Marietta Denver 1968-1970, served as program manager for manufacturing and procurement for Viking Mars project during early stages. Team won Viking contract for successful Mars spacecraft. In 1971 started Nelson, Coulson and Associates which furnished technical support teams to aircraft and industrial companies. Retired 1999. Was elected chairman AIAA, Rocky Mountain Section, and Denver chairman of Professional Engineers Colorado.
