    64-65 Cannon AFB, Clovis, NM
    524th TFS deployed 4 months to Missawa / Kunson
    (After our return to Cannon, our CO got all us junior 1LTs
    to Sea Survival School to avoid being sent to Jump School)
    481st TFS deployed 6 months to Tan Son Nhut AFB, Saigon
    (Daughter, Kirstin, was born one month after our return.)
    66-67 Luke AFB IP instruments call sign "Garbage"
    TDY 5 months to Egland AFB, Ft. Walton Beach, FL for a
    classified program that never got off the ground. Played
    2 hours of racket ball 5 days a week and 5 rounds of golf
    each week.
    Oct. 67 separated from service and went to work for Nebraska Book Co.
    In Lincoln, NE traveling the US purchasing used text books on college
    campuses. Last AF pay was $17,500, first civilian pay was $6,500 and
    no health insurance coverage to help pay for third child Kurt.
    Sept. 68 returned to Iowa City, IA to work in family owned college bookstore
    serving the University of Iowa.
    Feb. 73 purchased the store.
    Jan. 2003 youngest son Kurt began purchasing the store.

    Comment on my 5 years in the Air Force. I had great COs.
    I was lucky to get the plane of my choice out of PIT. My most memorable
    experience was of dancing with three F-100's over a hot target... more
    than once. And finally, the officers and enlisted folks I served with were
    outstanding. There is not a day that I don't apply the lessons I learned in
    the service.
