    Harold Butler, Sr. was born on December 11, 1902 in Hooper Utah. He enlisted in the Army Air Service in 1923 at Crissy Field, Presidio of San Francisco, California. He attended aircraft mechanic school at Chanute Field, Illinois.

    He was discharged as a private first class (PFC) and joined the Army Air Corps as a Civil Service employee in 1926. He served as an aircraft mechanic at North Island, San Diego, California. He was transferred to the new McClellan Field in 1938, and was appointed general foreman for aircraft maintenance. He transferred to Hill Field, Utah in 1941 as assistant general superintendent. He retired in 1945 and purchased a business in Southern Idaho. He died in 1983.
