GE Aviation on behalf of the NASM Board

In his long career as executive for the French aerospace company, Safran, Pierre Fabre played a huge role in the success of one of Ohio’s leading exporting companies. From 2001 to 2006, Fabre was president of Cincinnati-based CFM International, a 50/50 joint company of GE and Safran, and the world’s largest producer of commercial jet engines for the airline industry.

During Fabre’s tenure as CFM president, the company’s installed base of jet engines in service grew from 11,000 engines to 15,000 engines. Also, Fabre was a key member of the GE/Safran team that created the technology roadmap for the 2008 launch of the CFM LEAP engine, today’s best-selling commercial jet engine with more than 11,000 engines on back order. Fabre, a graduate of the prestigious Aeronatuical College Sup Aero in France, spent most of his career supporting CFM engine products.

From 2011 to 2015, Fabre served as chairman of Snecma (now Safran Aircraft Engines) and collaborated closely with GE Aviation executives in Cincinnati on future CFM International strategy.

CFM International is responsible for the creation of literally thousands of jobs at GE Aviation operations in Ohio, and supports thousands of jobs across Ohio’s aerospace supplier network.

Fabre retired in July 2016 as the senior vice president of research and technology heading the Safran Analytics organization.
