Professor Andrew W. Paton, 5 November 1908 - 20 February 1964, Director of the Division of Aviation and of Aerospace Technology at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, was instrumental in establishing the Division in the mid 1940s. He taught in the program until his untimely death in 1964. In 1966, the expanded Kent State Airport was renamed "Andrew Paton Field" in his honor.
