Mr. Douglas I. Gifford
From vocational school Ralph went to work for Hamilton Standard Propellers, Hartford, Connecticut. While there he submitted designs for making lightweight propellers.
When World War II broke out he went to Curtiss-Wright, Caldwell, NJ where he worked throughout the war, often 7 days a week with much overtime.
He would have preferred fighting for his country but the government felt he was more valuable building aircraft engines. After World War II he worked for Air Works, Millville, NJ. He never lost his interest in aviation
When Dad died, he willed his body for scientific study so he has no grave or memorial. Thank you for this opportunity to remember him!
