A native of the Sunshine State, and raised in Milton, Florida, Randy was awarded a four-year scholarship and earned distinguished ROTC graduate recognition en route to a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management from Auburn University, in 1979. He earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1985, and an Executive Management Certificate from the University of Virginia's Darden Business School in 2003. Randy is a Certified Aviation Manager and holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.
From March 1980 to July 1989, Randy served in the United States Air Force as an Undergraduate Pilot Training Instructor (T-37 aircraft), Academic Platform Instructor, and Chief Pilot/Executive Officer for the USAF "Hurricane Hunters" Weather Reconnaissance Squadron (WC-130 aircraft). His final assignment in the Air Force was Commandant of Cadets, Administration Officer and Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies at North Carolina State University. Following his time in the Air Force, he joined BellSouth Corporation as a corporate pilot.
At BellSouth, Randy served in a variety of leadership and management roles with increasing responsibility, leading to his selection as President, BellSouth Corporate Aviation and Travel Services in 1997. As an executive for BellSouth Corporation, Randy lead and managed all aspects of BellSouth's industry leading corporate aviation team, commercial travel business, and corporate meeting-planning organization. His team served over 55,000 people annually in domestic and international executive travel, a corporate air shuttle, a corporate conference center, and a multi-city ground shuttle. Additionally, he managed negotiation and implementation of all aircraft purchase and sale contracts, as well as BellSouth's commercial air, lodging and rental car contracts. During this period, he developed numerous operations, standards, safety, and staffing processes which are considered benchmarks for "Best Practices" into the future.
When AT&T Corporation acquired BellSouth in May of 2007, Randy transitioned out of corporate life, and created Aviation Leadership Group, LLC, to provide leadership, strategic planning, and management consulting across the business aviation industry and government aviation. As a consultant, Randy enjoyed helping numerous individuals and companies grow their professional skills. He also served his 9000 member church as Chief Financial Officer and Director of Missions.
Randy chaired Auburn University's Aviation Management Advisory Council for two years, and held positions on the Aviation Directors Roundtable, the Board of Directors for Mount Bethel Christian Academy and the Evergreen Retreat Center, LLC. Randy chaired the Georgia Governor's Aviation Task Force and Implementation Team as well as the Administrative Council for his Methodist Church. He also served on the National Business Aviation Association Board of Directors, the NETJETS' Corporate Advisory Council, the Georgia Business Aviation Association Board of Directors, Grillers World Incorporated Board of Directors, the Certified Aviation Manager Governing Board, and the Flight Safety Foundation Corporate Advisory Committee.
Randy lives in Auburn, Alabama, with his bride, Cindy. They have a daughter, Rachel and two sons, Cody and Kyle.
