Raul graduated as an Airframe and Engine (A&E) mechanic from the Glenn L Martin school of aviation in 1940 and went to work with Northrop Aircraft Company.
In 1941 he was inducted into the US Army where he spent 4 years in India working on aircraft flying the Burma Hump
Raul worked for the following airline companies: Avianca in Columbia, Lloyd Air Bolivia, Air America, and Alaska Air Lines.
He was an instructor with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) teaching aircraft maintained in Mexico and Iran.
