    Ray Wagner is a teacher and aviation historian who has written many articles and monographs about military aircraft. His best-known books are "American Combat Planes" and "Mustang Designer," and he was the archivist for the San Diego Aerospace Museum from 1985 to 2000. He was born in Philadelphia and earned a Master of Science degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1955.
