We are nominating Rebecca Lee Bertok for a place on the Wall of Honor because of the role that aviation has come to play in her recent life. In October 1997, Rebecca sustained a moderate head injury. The idea of flight, its risks and its freedom from the limitations of earth’s bondage became an important metaphor for her. Rebecca’s fascination with this metaphor sustained her recovery, revived her intellectually and emotionally, and led her to develop a strong interest in aviation, past, present, and future. Rebecca’s desire to use her training as an historian to contribute to the preservation of aviation history.
