    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
Mr. and Mrs. Simeon D. Stidham Jr.

Reese McGregor (Mac) Stidham, Jr. was born November 2, 1924 at Ocala, FL and died September 28, 1999 in Columbia, SC. He attended Clemson College (now Clemson University), enlisted in the Navy December 2, 1942 and was commissioned October 24, 1944 (R.M. Stidham in service records). He flew Grumman TBF Avengers with Torpedo Squadron 11 and was discharged after the war on December 6, 1945.
Mac's flying career continued after WWII, as a civilian contract instructor with Southern Airways out of Bainbridge, GA, instructing USAF basic students in AT-6s. He later transferred to Serv. Air, Inc. out of Bartow, Florida, instructing USAF basic students in T-28As and later T-37s.
Mac was a cool head, with an aviator's demeanor and sense of humor. He was an inspiration to many fledgling pilots, including this one. It was always uplifting to visit with Mac and exchange flying stories.
Respectfully submitted with fond remembrance of our sense of family and our friendship,
