    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    Ms. Annette Siver

The passion began as a young boy of about 12 in Germany, when Reinhard and his brother hiked about 12 miles to a Luftwaffe base where they watched the military planes in flight.

Although that experience convinced him that aviation would be in his future, he had to wait another 14 years to experience the thrill of his first flight in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, as a college student. Reinhard then had to wait another nine years to finally take his first solo flight in 1966, in an airplane that he himself rebuilt from almost nothing in his backyard.

From there, he really took off, in more ways than one! Reinhard went on to earn many pilot's ratings, including:

    • Commercial Pilot—Airplane, Single and Multiengine Land, Instrument
    • Certified Flight Instructor—Airplane, Single and Multiengine, Instrument
    • Ground Instructor—Advanced, Instrument
    • Mechanic—Airframe, Powerplant

Reinhard has passed on his great enthusiasm for flying to hundreds of students, teaching both ground and flight school from 1970 to 1996.

During those years, seeking further adventures in the field of aviation, Reinhard made 16 ocean crossings, ferrying numerous single and twin-engine airplanes to exotic locations. Flis passion took him to Fiji, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the Philippines, and Tanzania, East Africa, with his longest non-stop flight reaching 2500 miles from Oakland, California to Honolulu, Hawaii, and the longest trip almost 10,000 miles.

Reinhard continues to share his passion as an FAA Pilot Examiner in Northern California. He has logged well over 13,000 hours during his career, and enjoys personal flying time in his Beechcraft Bonanza, without question his favorite airplane. He continues to inspire, and is well respected and admired in the world of aviation.
