Pursuant to the authority contained in Army Air Forces, India-Burma Sector Memorandum 75-45B, 31 January 1944, and under the provisions of Army Regulations 600-45, 22 September 1943, the Distinguished Flying Cross is hereby awarded to Second Lieutenant R. B. Henderson Jr. 0795956, Air Corps, as pilot from 2 June 1944 to 10 July 1944 for extraordinary achievement while participating in operational flights totaling more than two hundred hours in unarmed, heavily loaded transport airplanes, during which exposure to enemy fire was probable and expected. During the periods indicated, he completed flights from bases in Upper Assam, providing food, clothing, mail, medicinal supplies, and materiel to our forward elements, and to those of our Indian, British and Chinese Allies in the hills and mountains of Upper Burma. Undaunted by the hazards faced regularly and continuously, he performed his duties in such a manner that the highest credit is reflected upon himself and the military forces of the United States. Home address: 49 Lakin Avenue, Jamestown, New York.
