Richard (Dick) Allen Spinosi’s love of flying came at an early age: he had his first flight at age 15 and his pilot’s license at 16. He learned to fly with Haussermann Aviation in Columbus, OH and became a flight instructor while flying charter and freight for them. He went on to fly for Allegheny Airlines until deciding to become an Air Traffic Controller, working at Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland, OH and Lansing Airport in Lansing, MI. His career continued with Baron Aviation as a charter and helicopter pilot until he was hired by Eaton Corporation in Cleveland, OH. Dick flew over 50 different models of single and multi-engine aircraft and helicopters including: Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft, Grumman, Aero Commander, Mooney, Luscombe, Bellanca, Citabria, de Havilland, Mitsubishi, Hughes, Learjet, and Challenger. During his 29 year career as a corporate pilot with Eaton, he served as Safety Officer, Standards Officer, Flight Captain, Chief Pilot, and International Lead Captain. He flew the LearJet-25D, 31A, 35A, 45, 45XR, and Challenger-300. Dick retired from Eaton in 2015 with 17,000 flying hours and a perfect safety record.
