    Honored by:
    Mr. David Walstad

As one of the strongest advocates for civil and military aviation in the sate of North Dakota, Mr. Walstad has devoted thousands of hours over a period of more than 30 years to help promote aviation in state and throughout the country.

Mr. Walstad served in the North Dakota Army National Guard in 1961 and 1962. He was appointed Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army for North Dakota from August 1991 through 1995. With the protocol rank of a three star general, Mr. Walstad had an opportunity to tour many defense facilities, operate many pieces of Army equipment, and meet with many of the Army's top leadership. In doing so,
Mr. Walstad was able to blend these experiences with his extensive business and community-building leadership roles to foster a stronger military commitment for the state and region.

Mr. Walstad also served as State Chairman for the North Dakota Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) and as Charter Chairman of the Joint Military Affairs Committee for Tri-Chambers of Commerce in the Fargo Moorhead area.

Mr. Walstad was co-founder of The Fargo Air Museum with Major General Darrol Schroeder. He served as Chairman of the Board form 2000 through 2004 as well as serving on the Board of Directors. The museum is committed to educate the public, especially school-age children, about aircraft, aviation and their impact on society.

Mr. Walstad has had supporting and leadership roles in all Fargo Air Shows since the 1970's. He has served as Co-Chair along with Major General Darrol Schroeder since 1989. Regarded as one of the best-run shows in the country, Fargo has hosted the Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy Blue Angels many times, and has had Chuck Yeager as a special guest at one of the shows.

Thanks to Mr. Walstad's extensive volunteer activities, the Fargo Air Show, Fargo Air Museum and support for aviation in the state of North Dakota will forever be stronger.
