    Honored by:

My father was born in 1898, soloed in 1919 and flew for the rest of his life in many kinds of aircraft, including being a passenger in the Graf Zeppelin and the Concorde. He made many first and record flights and, having made it from London to Los Angeles in six days and six hours in August, 1929, he was invited by SAS to be a passenger on their first schedule trans polar flight and to come to London for the flyby of the SR-71 Blackbirds, four plus hours out from Los Angeles. He continued to fly sailplanes into his eighties and died in 1993.
