    Honored by:
    R. L. Circle

Richard L. Circle first became interested in aviation as a child watching WWII aircraft fly over his southern Kansas home. This interest was reinforced when his father, Lee E. Circle, a grocery store owner, learned to fly while in his 40's after the war. Many hours were spent boring holes in the sky with his father in his 1940's vintage Aeronica and later in his WWII surplus PT19.
Richard pursued a career in aviation and earned a MS Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. During a 40-year career, he held significant technical and management positions while contributing to the design of numerous Beechcraft airplanes, the Boeing B52 and the Lockheed C5A/B, C130, C141, L1011 and the F22. He considers his role as Co-chairman of the F22 Raptor First Flight Readiness Review as among his most significant achievements.
Many national level advisory and executive committee positions with NASA, DoD, and USAF were numbered among his activities. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer and a member of numerous professional organizations.
He retired from Lockheed Martin after 30 years service and was Director - Aircraft Technology and Testing at that time.
