From early childhood, Richard has consistently displayed a keen awareness and interest in
his surroundings, near and far. Additionally he possesses a singular ability to summarize, and to act correspondingly, in any situation, critical or otherwise. In consequence, this outlook has helped lead to his many interests, and to activities which are both wide and varied, as indeed arc those of his wife Beth, and Julia and Alexander, his daughter and son. Not surprisingly, Richard maintains a consistent interest and most enthusiastic patronage of The Smithsonian, and The National Air and Space Museum in particular.
Currently, as Senior Vice President of Presspoint Inc.. of New York, he is responsible for Marketing & Circulation in a company employing advanced electronic communication technology & production methods, for i portfolio of 42 worldwide major newspaper and journal publishing operations. In the last two years, his extensive business travels have meant using a significant number of airlines in most countries, and continents Notwithstanding , in February- this year (2001) for example, he exchanged his flight booking for a rail ticket, on the Beijing - Shanghai leg of his latest China visit, for the opportunity to get a close look at the countryside and the people there, in this now so important country.
