    CDR. David Harris USN

For over 30 years, "Rick" Harris made a lasting contribution to the advancement of aerospace as an engineer, working on such important, prominent projects in the defense industry as the F-4 Phantom, the FB-111, the Apollo space program, and the Space Shuttle. The highlight of his career was as an international program manager for the F-16 program where he traveled all over the world solving integration challenges for the U.S. Air Force and the NATO countries that fly the Fighting Falcon. He started his career working on a U.S. Navy contract supporting the POLARIS theater ballistic program in the early 1960's. The last aerospace project he worked was as the on was as the Chief Procurement Engineer for McDonnell Douglas on the Navy's "A-12 Avenger" program, a carrier launched, stealth flying wing attack bomber designed to replace the legendary A-6 Intruder. Unfortunately, this program was cancelled. Ironically, the original design has recently returned, as a carrier launched unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) known as the X-47B! We are very proud of Rick's many decades of unfailing devotion to an exciting aerospace career whose efforts are seen today in the skies over head and whose passion for flight lives on with his posterity.
