Robert's interest in aviation was natural. His father, John J. Young, as a civilian employee of the Air Force during WWII and beyond. One of Bob's early thrills was a ride in a P-51, which remained his favorite aircraft through his live. After high school he started flying lessons. His instructor had soloed in a "Jenny" and taught him well. He flew small planes, mainly Cessnas until he started taking a medication which stopped his flying. The Air and Space Museum & Silver Hill were Favorite places.
