    Robert C. "Bob" Trimborn was a U.S. Navy veteran who served on a mine sweeper in World War II (WWII). He had a passion for the Navy and the ocean and owned over a half dozen boats during his lifetime. He also had a passion for aviation. After being discharged from the Navy at the end of the war, he took a position with Northrop Aircraft Corporation where he worked as a sheet metal mechanic on the YB-49 Flying Wing bomber, F-89 Scorpion all weather interceptor, and the T-38 Talon supersonic trainer.

    He also loved automobiles and owned Mobil gas stations for ten years. In the early 1960s he left the gas station business behind and went to work for Western Airlines where he retired as a sheet metal mechanic in the mid 1980s.

    He volunteered at the Western Museum of Flight in the restoration department and imparted his love of aviation to all who visited museum.
