Lieutenant Robert E. Haar was a pilot with the 71st Troop Carrier Squadron of the 434th Troop Carrier Group of the 9th Air Force. He arrived in the European Theatre of Operation in August 1944. He was awarded the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and the European Theatre Ribbon with four battle stars. Among his combat missions, he participated in Operation Market Garden during the Battle of the Bulge and Operation Victory.
