CITATION TO ACCOMPANY THE AWARD OF
    THE DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS TO
    ROBERT E. KEIR

Lieutenant Colonel Robert E. Keir distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-123 Aircraft Commander at Khe Sanh, Republic of Vietnam on 6 March I968. On that date, Colonel Keir displayed courage and determination which were salient factors in the delivery of the vitally needed combat troops to the besieged outpost. After landing, his aircraft was disabled by mortar fire but he displayed the highest degree of professionalism as he assisted in the evacuation of the passengers. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Keir reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
