    Joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, in 1942 . Commissioned Pilot in 1943. Trained at Ft. Worth, Tx to become B-17 First Pilot. Assigned with crew to 486th Bomb Group, Sudbury, England and became a Lead Ship. Flew a total of 31 missions over Europe, including missions over Berlin and other areas in Germany. Awarded the DFC on 11 Nov. 1944. After separation in 1945 completed education. Accepted Regular Army Commission in 1949. Served 31 years, including tours in Korea (1952-53) and Vietnam (1967-68). Retired in 1973.
