    Robert Escalle joined the Air Force in 1952 and became an Aviation Cadet. Upon graduation from pilot training, he went on to serve at various bases and flew many types of aircraft, including his all-time favorite, the F-86 Sabre Jet. He got the opportunity to fly the F-86F while assigned to Sidi Slimane AB in French Morocco, North Africa. He helped to provide air defense for Europe during the days of the Cold War while at Sidi Slimane AB. He left the Air Force in1956 but continued to fly private aircraft for many years.
