    Graduated from Cornell University 1954, and Commissioned 2n Lt in the Field Artillery through ROTC. Completed fixed wing flight training in 1955. Served with the 11th Airborne and 24th Inf. Division in Germany 1955 - 1959. Completed rotary wing training at Camp Wolters, TX in 1960. Served in Korea in l961 - 1962. Assigned to E Btry (Avn), 26th FA, 11th Air Assault Div, Ft Benning, GA in 1964. The unit was redesignated E Btry (Avn), 82nd FA, 1st Cav. Div (AM) on 1 July 1965. Served with that unit in Viet Nam from Sept 1965 to July 1966. Flew air observer missions for the l/21st Arty supporting the 3rd Brigade during the la Drang Valley operation in Nov 1965. Earned the DFC for action at Bong Son in Feb 1966. After a one-year tour in Germany, returned to Viet Nam in time for the TET offensive in 1968. This time flying OlE's with the 199th RAC at Vinh Long. Final assignment was with the Readiness Group at Ft Devens, MA. Retired from military service in Jan 1975.
